Kansas Seed Company

Autumn Prairie Pumpkins is a small, family-run seed company in Newton, Kansas. We grow and select heirloom and hybrid pumpkin and squash seeds for the conditions Midwest gardeners actually face: prairie heat, humidity, wind, clay soil, and the squash vine borer.

Why a Kansas seed company matters

Most seed catalogs are written for somewhere else. A variety that shines in the cool Pacific Northwest can melt down in a Kansas July. We focus on what works here in Zone 6b, with a deep bench of Cucurbita moschata varieties prized for their natural vine borer resistance and heat tolerance. Every variety we sell is chosen because it earns its place in a real backyard garden, not just a catalog photo.

What we grow and sell

Rare, useful, and beautiful pumpkin and squash seeds for home gardeners and market growers, from the classic Long Island Cheese pie pumpkin to the vine-borer-beating Seminole. Browse all our seeds, shop by need (pie pumpkins, winter storage squash, small gardens), or read our Kansas Zone 6b growing guides. We also offer a small line of prairie coffee and handmade soap.
