What is inside
This is a working bakery book. It opens with the pumpkins themselves, a master roasted puree, the Prairie Spice Blend, and notes for the prairie baker, then moves through six chapters of recipes, many of them the same ones we sell at the market table. Pumpkin is the thread that runs through it, from the moschata varieties we grow to the puree that goes into the bread, but there is plenty here for anyone who bakes.

Who wrote it
Christopher and Margaret Snow grow heirloom pumpkins and squash on a small homestead in Newton, Kansas, and sell seeds, coffee, soap, and baked goods at the farmers market. The book is the kitchen side of that story: what we do with the pumpkins after the seeds are saved.
