What are heirloom pumpkin seeds?

Heirloom pumpkin seeds are open-pollinated varieties that have been passed down through generations. Unlike hybrids, you can save seeds from heirloom pumpkins and grow the same variety year after year. All our seeds are non-GMO and open-pollinated.

What growing zone are your seeds tested in?

All our seeds are grown and tested on our Zone 6b homestead in Newton, Kansas. Most of our varieties also perform well in Zones 5-9. Each product listing includes specific growing zone recommendations.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes! We offer free shipping on orders of $25 or more. Orders under $25 pay USPS calculated shipping. Seeds ship via USPS First Class, and coffee ships fresh within 48 hours of roasting.

What makes your coffee different?

Our Prairie coffee is small-batch roasted right here on the Kansas prairie. We roast weekly to ensure freshness. Available in Prairie Sunrise (light roast) and Prairie Blaze (medium roast), both in ground or whole bean.

Are your pumpkin seeds vine borer resistant?

Many of our Cucurbita moschata varieties are naturally resistant to squash vine borers, including Seminole Pumpkin, Long Island Cheese, Tromboncino, and Mrs. Amersons. We highlight vine borer resistance on each product page.

Prairie Coffee: Small-Batch Coffee Roasted in Newton, Kansas

Every good garden day starts the same way: a hot cup, a quiet minute, and the light coming up slow over flat Kansas fields. That is where Prairie Coffee began. We roast in small batches in Newton, Kansas, the same prairie ground where we grow and save our heirloom pumpkin seeds, because we believe the thing you drink first thing in the morning should be made with the same care as the food you grow.

Roasted small batch, shipped fresh

We are not a warehouse and we are not a national chain. We roast weekly, in small batches, and ship within days of roasting. Coffee is at its best in the first few weeks after the roast, so the shorter the trip from roaster to your kitchen, the better the cup. Order by Wednesday and your bag typically ships by Friday of the same week, still close enough to the roast date to taste the difference.

Two roasts, two kinds of mornings

Prairie Sunrise is our light roast: smooth, balanced, and bright, with a soft honey-almond finish. It is the cup for slow mornings and easy drinking, approachable enough for the whole table.

Prairie Blaze is our bold medium roast: full-bodied, a little smoky, and built for cold mornings and long work days. If you like your coffee with some backbone, this is your bag.

Why Kansas coffee?

Kansas is not where coffee grows, but it is where we live, roast, and build something lasting. Sourcing good green beans and roasting them ourselves lets us keep the whole process close to home and honest. The same belief runs through everything we do here: good things take time, good soil, and good neighbors. Coffee is just the part of the homestead you can enjoy before the sun is fully up.
