Lungo di Napoli, also known as Long of Naples or Zucca Lunga di Napoli, is a centuries-old Italian heirloom winter squash. This Cucurbita moschata variety produces long, elegant bottle-shaped fruits typically 12 to 20 inches, with smooth tan skin that matures to a warm orange-buff.
As a C. moschata variety, Lungo de Napoli shares the naturally solid stems that make this species resistant to squash vine borers. Sweet, dense flesh with excellent flavor for roasting, soups, and baking. A true Italian classic, now Kansas-tested and ready for your garden.
Growing Notes: Start indoors 3 to 4 weeks before last frost for the best results, or direct sow once soil reaches 65°F. Full sun, well-drained soil. Space plants 8 to 10 feet apart and give the long fruits room to run. Matures in 100 to 120 days. Open pollinated, so you can save seed from your best fruit.
