For the Gardener Who Wants to Grow Something Nobody Else Has

Three of the most visually striking heirloom squash varieties you can grow: all vine borer resistant, all conversation-stopping, and all genuinely delicious. Two ancient Asian heirlooms and one Italian classic that grows like something out of a fairy tale.

What’s Included (20 seeds each, 60 seeds total):

  • Shishigatani Squash, a sacred Japanese variety from the temple gardens of Kyoto. Grows in a dramatic hourglass shape unlike anything else in the garden. Rich, dry flesh that Japanese chefs have prized for centuries. One of the rarest varieties we carry.
  • Black Futsu, deep black-green skin at harvest that ripens to warm chestnut brown. Nutty, sweet, and dense flesh. One of the most visually striking squash you can put on a shelf or a plate. A true Japanese heirloom with a cult following among seed savers.
  • Tromboncino, an Italian heirloom that grows 2 to 3 feet long in a wild curved shape. Harvest young as a zucchini substitute, or let it mature into a full winter squash. Climbs a trellis and puts on a show all season. One of the most productive squash we grow.

Shape, drama, and genuine flavor depth. These are the varieties that make people stop at your garden and ask what they are. All three carry vine borer resistance through solid moschata stems, making them tough enough for Kansas summers and humid climates where other squash fail.
