This is not a sampler. Every variety in this box earns its place. Three vine borer resistant pumpkins and squash that store for months without a refrigerator, a giant productive squash that feeds a family from a single vine, and a classic prairie sunflower that pulls in pollinators, produces edible seeds, and turns any patch of ground into something worth looking at. Add two coffees, one light, one bold, and you have a full season of growing covered from the first warm morning to the last harvest day.
What Is In This Box
- Seminole Pumpkin Seeds (10 seeds), The homestead backbone. Cultivated by the Seminole people of Florida for centuries, this vine borer resistant heirloom stores for six months without refrigeration. Grows on a fence, a trellis, or straight up into a tree. Dense, sweet, tan flesh. One of the most dependable pumpkins for Kansas and the central plains.
- Long Island Cheese Pumpkin Seeds (10 seeds), The best pie pumpkin we grow. A Cucurbita moschata heirloom with deep, sweet orange flesh and a flat, ribbed shape that has made it the gold standard for baking since the 1800s. Vine borer resistant, excellent storage life, and beautiful enough to display on a porch all fall before it goes into a pie.
- Waltham Butternut Squash Seeds (10 seeds), The award-winning All-America Selections winner that every serious food garden needs. Reliable, prolific, and versatile in the kitchen. Roasting, soups, pies, and long-term storage, Waltham does all of it. A true homestead staple that produces consistently from zone 5 to zone 9.
- Tahitian Melon Squash Seeds (10 seeds), The showstopper of the garden. A giant Pacific heirloom that can reach 20 pounds on a single vine. Pale tan skin, deep orange flesh with a mild, sweet flavor that works equally well roasted or baked into pies. Highly productive, vine borer resistant, and the kind of variety that stops people mid-walk to ask what it is.
- Mammoth Sunflower Seeds (10 seeds), The prairie anchor. Grows 8 to 12 feet tall with massive seed heads that attract pollinators for your entire squash patch, then produce a full harvest of edible sunflower seeds. Open-pollinated and true to type year after year. Plant along a fence row or at the edge of a garden bed and let it do its job.
- Prairie Sunrise Coffee (8 oz), A smooth, light roast with honey and almond notes. Small-batch roasted in Kansas. Built for early garden mornings when you need something warm in your hand before the sun clears the horizon.
- Prairie Blaze Coffee (8 oz), Bold medium roast with smoky caramel depth. The coffee for harvest days, long afternoons in the garden, and the kind of satisfaction that comes from looking at something you grew yourself.
Growing Notes
ieties in this box are suited for Kansas, the central plains, and most of the continental United States. The three squash and pumpkin varieties, Seminole, Long Island Cheese, and Waltham Butternut, are all Cucurbita moschata or closely related, meaning they carry significant resistance to squash vine borer, the most damaging pest in Midwest pumpkin gardens. The Tahitian Melon is also a moschata. Direct sow after last frost when soil temperatures reach 65°F. The Mammoth Sunflower can go in two weeks before last frost.Free shipping on this order.
